Next up in this list of 7 reasons why The Twilight Zone is so incredibly awesome is, of course, the stars. By which I don’t mean those giant burning balls of gas that can be seen through the window of a flying saucer, but rather the many famous faces that have appeared in The Twilight Zone. There’s no shortage of top billed actors that have appeared over the years in this classic television programme. So here’s a quick list of some of the most well known names who have had the privaledge to star in such a momentous show:
- William Shatner (‘Nightmare at 2,000 Feet‘ & ‘Nick Of Time’) – What a way to start a list! Yes that’s right, the one and only Shat – king of the sci-fi phenomenon that is Star Trek has featured in not one, but two brilliant Twilight Zone episodes.
- Martin Landau (‘The Jeopardy Room’ & ‘Mr. Denton on Doomsday‘) – Perhaps best recognised in films such as Hitchcock’s North By Northwest and the TV classic Mission: Impossible, Mr. Landau even featured in the 1980′s version!
- Dennis Hopper (‘He’s Alive‘ – Vol. 4) – Any actor would be proud to have a filmography like Hoppers. From the Vietnam masterpiece that is Apocalypse Now! to Easy Rider and Romero’s Land Of The Dead. A late great actor who appeared in ‘He’s Alive’ as a neo-Nazi – go figure.
- Robert Duvall (‘Miniature’ – Vol. 4) – Quite possibly one of the greatest performances in any Twilight Zone episode – Duvall’s character is so unbelievably intense and offbeat! Starring alongside Hopper in Apocalypse Now! Duvall is also recognised from The Godfather Parts I & II as Tom Hagen.
These are just a few of my personal favourite actors who have appeared in the cult classic Twilight Zone. Do you have any others? Why not let us know on the official forum?
Twilight Zone: Vol. 4 is out on the 19th September. Pre-Order it here, here or here!
