This is the Holy Flying Circus clip I’ve been itching to share…

In the UK at least, there are a few TV chat show events that have seeped into the popular imagination, endlessly recycled on Youtube and a cut above the usual whoring of books and new movies that makes up the bulk of televised couch chatter. Stand out moments in this particular TV genre include Grace Jones attacking Russell Harty, The Who attacking Russell Harty (was it something he said?), Snoop Dogg and Rod Hull & Emu on The Word and of course, Billy Connolly sending his career skyward with his appearances on Parkinson.

But above all these is the legendary episode of long gone chat show Friday Night, Saturday Morning in which the Pythons are pitted against some of Britain’s most conservative christian representatives. With Holy Flying Circus being about the controversy surrounding the release of Life Of Brian, this was a scene that had to be just so if the rest of the production was to work. I think they got it…
