The Scandinavian Horror Thread
The Scandinavian Horror Thread I love some good Scandinavian Horror, and so i was wondering if anyone can help suggest some good ones. Here's what I have so far Let The Right One in (Swedish) Dead Snow (Norwegian) Cold Prey 1 & 2 (Norwegian) (sorry I forgot to add this) The Sinful Dwarf (Danish) and a couple I'm planning on getting soon Green Butchers (Danish) Harpoon: Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre (Iclandic) Dark Floors (Finnish) (sorry I forgot to add this) Last edited by thundercrack; 7th June 2010 at 05:14 PM. |

I loved both Cold Prey films and Manhunt. All worth checking out.

I have to admit I find LTROI to be incredibly over-rated. Sure it's very well made, but it's not 'horror' enough for me. Dead Snow on the other hand is incredible! Soo much fun!

The Finnish "Sauna" (aka "Filth") is supposed to be very atmospheric; haven't checked it out myself yet though. The Finnish stab at a broader mainstream market with "Dark Floors" isn't half as daft as the appearance of the "Lordi" band in full make up would suggest, decent hospital horror imho. Then there's "Skeleton Crew", a Finnish "tongue-in-cheek" take on the current "torture porn" wave; good fun. On the Swedish front we also have the very moody "Blairwitch"-style "The Unknown" ("Det Okända"), a personal fave of mine. The Swedish splatter spoof "Evil Ed" has a censor (!) on the rampage Then there's the Swedish outing "Sleepwalker", which is also supposed to be quite tense and gripping- haven't checked it out myself yet. Not exactly horror, but the Danish thriller "Nightwatch" from the mid 90's is a real treat for genre fans and in contrast to the same director's US remake, the plot actually makes sense. There's a recent Norwegian "rape 'n revenge" flick called "Hora", which I haven't succeeded yet to get my hands on. |

So did i. Especially the sequel. Fair enough, both CP entries may not be too original. But very well shot imo, briskly paced with likeable characters and grisly enough for yours truly. A nice change from the usual hackneyed Hollywood horror fare and a bargain if you can grab the U.K. double disc DVD set. |

[QUOTE=Splatterdragon73;84458 A nice change from the usual hackneyed Hollywood horror fare and a bargain if you can grab the U.K. double disc DVD set.[/QUOTE] You can get both of them from HMV for £8 sale price, but I've heard that there is a 3rd one on the way. |

If anyone wants the awesome splatter Movie on DVD, UNCUT swe-release (eng-audio) I can trade it for something fun! The US-release says on the cover that it's uncut, but it's not...

That's how i got my double dose of CP (beware of loose discs though!) and i hope you're right about a third entry. Another satisfactory slice of snow 'n splatter would be fine with me if it maintains the professionalism of the first two CP offerings. |
