APPARENTLY THERE’S SOMETHING HAPPENING TODAY…
Can’t quite work out what it is though. It keeps getting briefly mentioned on the news but they hardly focus on it so I keep missing it. Sounds a bit like “loyal bedding” but that would just be silly. Is Katie Price getting married again or something?
Perhaps it’s because the nation is getting all excited over the release of Cannibal Girls (Nucleus Films: DVD). The film with the “warning bell” from Ivan Reitman is out on UK DVD for the first time ever so I can see why this deserves a bank holiday. So get your copy and enjoy your day off finding out a whole new meaning to the term “man-eater!” You can read more about the film on the blog, or in Sam‘s great article! Or you can chat about it on its official thread! Have fun…

OUT NEXT WEEK!
It’s felt like a long time coming but The Twilight Zone: Season 1 (Shock Entertainment & Fremantle Media: Blu-ray & DVD) is finally here on Monday! To celebrate, Cult Labs has gone TZ crazy! As well as hosting the official UK forum, Tom has interviewed Marc Zicree, producer of the Blu-rays and DVDs and author of The Twilight Zone Companion. You can find links to this excellent interview on the TZ blog! For more TZ, check the “There’s Something Going On…” section!
Also out next week:
- The Bird With The Crystal Plumage (Arrow Video: Blu-ray) – read all about it or chat on the official mini-forum!
COMING SOON FROM CULT LABS
I’ve been banging on about Takashi Miike’s 13 Assassins (Artificial Eye: UK cinemas, 6 May 2011) for weeks now but it is deservedly so as the film is awesome! Cult Labs is playing host to the 13 Assassins official hubsite which is constantly being topped up with sparkly new content! What’s more, if you click “like” while you’re there, you’ll be in with a chance of winning a theatrical poster, otherwise unavailable to buy (ends 6 May 2011). So get over there and get liking!
THERE’S SOMETHING GOING ON AT THE LABORATORY
Still can’t work out what this “loyal bedding” thing is… Is somewhere selling good duvets? While I figure it out, let me catch you up on the goings on at the Labs…
Ultimate Twilight Zone Episode
As promised, here’s another bit of TZ coolness for you! Tom has set up a sort of Twilight Zone tournament to celebrate the release of Season 1 on DVD and Blu-ray! In a series of “heats,” episodes are pitted against each other with the winners going forward into the next round and so on until a winner – a TZ champion – is found. It’s a bit like X-Factor for people with lives! So get on over there and get debating/voting in order to find the Ultimate Twilight Zone Episode!
Well I managed to go without anyone revealing who the killer/s was/were to me and finally saw Scre4m the other night. I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised. I’ll be honest, I thought it was going to be dreadful but, in fact, I thought it was probably the best of the sequels. If you want to natter about Scre4m, head on over to this thread but remember, Scream films hinge on the whodunnit element so no spoilers please!
Well, Doctor Who is finally back on our screens and where better to discuss it than on Cult Labs’ very own Doctor Who thread? Some people have already been chatting about last week’s episode, as well as leaving some touching messages on the passing of Elisabeth Sladen. So, after this Saturday’s episode, why not head over there to share your thoughts?
Shameless @ Sci-Fi London (30 April 2011)
It’s a touch short notice but if you can make it to London tomorrow, why not get tickets for the Fantascienza All-Nighter at Sci-Fi London? Shameless will be screening The Bronx Warriors, Escape From the Bronx, The New Barbarians and The Beast In Space. Head on over to this thread for more details and for links to ticket sales.
If you’re heading over to the forums, be sure to check out the forum rules and pop into the new members thread to say hello if you haven’t already. If you ever feel intimidated by the behaviour of any Cult Labs members, tell one of the mods in strictest confidence: that’s me, Reaps, Stephen, Nos and bizarre_eye.
KYLE’S COMP CORNER
Firstly, a big congratulations to PaulD, winner of last week’s Super Comp! Now to this week’s weekly comp, in which three lucky winners will be able to pick between Norwegian Ninja, Blood Simple or Confessions as their prize! To be in with a chance of winning, you need to head on over to the Comp Corner to get the details. Good luck!
