Here’s a quote from the FILM 4 INTERVIEW with The Dead director Howard J. Ford:

Q: How would you describe The Dead?

Howard J Ford: It’s a journey movie within the context of a zombie outbreak in Africa. A ‘fish out of water’ adventure film, harking back to the films we might have enjoyed in a great era like the 70′s where you could sit back and follow the plight of a character without being over bombarded by huge special effects. The zombie outbreak in Africa is a great backdrop and seeing as we shot in many never seen before locations, hopefully it’s also a unique and original one.
