“THE WONDERFUL ANNA FRIEL GIVES A BRAVURA CENTRAL PERFORMANCE IN THIS ENTERTAINING DRAMA.” – EVENING STANDARD.

Without You, ITV1’s current hit thriller series based on the bestselling novel “What To Do When Someone Dies” by Nicci French (the pen name of writing duo Nicci Gerrard and Sean French) and starring Anna Friel (Limitless; London Boulevard; Pushing Daisies), comes to DVD on 16th January 2012 and features all three episodes of the series plus bonus “making of” featurette which includes interviews with Anna Friel and Nicci French.

Directed by Tim Fywell (Waking the Dead; Mistresses), this taut, emotional and effective psychological thriller co-stars Marc Warren (Mad Dogs; Mutual Friends; Hustle), Barnaby Kay (Wuthering Heights; Holby City), Olivia Poulet (The Thick Of It) and Pippa Haywood (Tamara Drewe; Green Wing).

Anna Friel stars as schoolteacher Ellie Manning, happily married to accountant Greg, with whom she is eager to start a new family. However, Ellie’s plans for a romantic dinner at home with her husband one evening are shattered when the police arrive to inform her Greg has been killed in an horrific car accident, along with a mystery female passenger. The circumstances suggest the victims were pursuing an extra-marital affair, but Ellie, stricken with grief, refuses to even contemplate, let alone believe that Greg would cheat on her.

When the passenger is revealed to be married businesswoman Milena Livingstone, a woman previously unknown to Ellie, Milena’s husband’s cool acceptance of the situation prompts Ellie into investigating matters further, specifically to determine why Milena was in Greg’s car at the time of the accident. As she digs deeper, she becomes convinced the crash was no accident, but her obsession with discovering the truth leads those around her to question her emotional state. Meanwhile, Ellie, now unable to trust even her closest friends, is becoming suspicious of everyone, including herself.

A “gripping” (Daily Mail) and “powerful three part drama” (Daily Star) that keeps its biggest secret safe until its final, shocking revelation, Without You is a brilliantly plotted adaptation of Nicci French’s compulsive page-turner.

Without You (cert. tbc) will be released on DVD (£12.99) by FremantleMedia Entertainment on 16th January 2012. Extra features include “Making of” featurette plus interviews with Anna Friel and Nicci French (authors Nicci Gerrard and Sean French).

“SUPERBLY ACTED, STUNNINGLY SHOT, TENSION-FILLED DRAMA.” (FIVE STARS) – THE MAIL ON SUNDAY.

If you didn’t get it the first time, now’s your chance to see it again…

The hugely popular Philip Glenister (Ashes To Ashes; Demons; Cranford; Life On Mars) makes a welcome and highly anticipated return to DVD in Hidden, a fast-paced and compelling four-part conspiracy thriller which will be released as a special two-disc edition DVD by FremantleMedia Entertainment on 16th January 2012.

Co-written by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy; Public Enemies) and Veteran Hollywood screenwriter and Oscar nominee Walter Bernstein (The Front; Yanks; Semi-Tough) and directed by Niall MacCormick (Albatross; Wallander), Hidden sees Glenister heading a stellar cast of acting talent that also includes Thekla Reuten (The American; In Bruges), David Suchet (Poirot), Anna Chancellor (The Hour; Spooks), Thomas Craig (Murdoch Mysteries; Where The Heart Is; Coronation Street) and Lisa Kay (Heartbeat).

A topical and intricately plotted drama that recalls similar quality thrillers such as “Spooks”, “24” and “The Shadow Line” and boasts a complex storyline that rewards repeat viewings, Hidden recently screened on BBC One to critical acclaim that saw it hailed as “atmospheric and intriguing… Glenister is fabulous” (The Guardian), “excellent” (The Daily Express) and “exciting… ambitious… intelligent” (Four Stars, The Daily Telegraph).

It is a time of social unrest in modern day Britain. Riots and public protests are rife and the government appears to be in disarray. A man with little interest in the present political climate, Harry Venn (Glenister) is a small-time solicitor with a brief criminal past that he desperately wants to forget. Although he has never been convicted of the crime, Harry was the getaway driver in a raid that resulted in the deaths of his brother, Mark (Mark Powley), and their associate, Paul Hillman (Mark Flitton).

When Harry is unexpectedly approached for assistance by Gina Hawkes (Thekla Reuten), an attractive young lawyer searching for a missing witness who could provide an alibi for her most recent client, a series of seemingly coincidental connections between Gina’s case and Harry’s past set alarm bells ringing. Deciding to check out Gina’s background for himself, he soon finds himself caught up in a deeply complex and puzzling investigation that takes him back twenty years, to the day Mark and Hillman were killed. The only lead Harry has in the case is the name of a mysterious man known as Styles (Peter Guinness), who Harry is beginning to believe may have ordered the killings. But why?

As Harry slowly moves closer to discovering the truth, several people involved in the investigation turn up dead and soon both Harry and Gina’s lives are being threatened by unknown forces. Digging ever deeper, Harry stumbles across details of an assassination plot that suggests the answer to the whole mystery, including the reason for his brother’s death, may lie in the highest echelons of British political power.

The two-disc edition of Hidden (cert. 15 tbc), featuring all four hour-long episodes of the mini-series, will be released on DVD (£19.99) by FremantleMedia Entertainment on 16th January 2012. Extras include behind the scenes making of featurette and interviews with stars Philip Glenister, Thekla Rueten and David Suchet and director Niall MacCormick.
