HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
A little early, I know, but it’s the last newsletter before the big night, so it’s the best I can do (besides jumping out from under your bed at the strike of Monday’s midnight and screaming ‘Happy Halloween’ in your face). We’ve got yet another issue flooded with delicous and nom-induing goodies for you this week. So pull up a coffin, help yourself to some poached eyeballs and a glug of witches brew as I, Count Kyle-ula guide you through the wacky world of Cult Labs.
ALL THE BEST THINGS OUT NOW!
Five films. Five must-own titles. Five chances that your head will explode with excitement, splattering your computer screen with blood and brain residue. Hey, don’t say I didn’t warn you! Out now we have…
- Straw Dogs - From the genius mind of Sam Peckinpah (director of The Wild Bunch), comes his greatest masterpiece; Straw Dogs! This film marked Peckinpah’s first directorial step outside the Western genre and into a contemporary (and uniquely British) setting. The result is an unflinching and uncompromising study of primal, barbaric brutality that is generally regarded as one of the strongest statements about violence ever put on screen. Still a shocking film by todays standard, you could own this film in a stunning high-definition Blu-Ray for the first time ever in the history of mankind or, if you prefer, the 2-disker DVD. There’s plenty to talk about on the film’s official sub-forum too, from the specs of the release and it’s many special features to sneak preview clips, a thread dedicated to the film’s censorship issues and a side by side comparison of the release’s picture quality. Don’t be shy, join in the debate over on the forum! If this sounds like the perfect viewing for you, then here’s a rather helpful little link.
- But if you’re the type of person who’d rather than pondering about filmic violence, whilst smoking a bubble-blowing pipe and stroking your beard in a sophisticated and thought provoking manner would much prefer to see naked women being savagely tortured, teenagers brutally murdered and a blood-thirsty nunery then perhaps the Shameless Slasher Boxset is more your style. Contained in this throwback to the violent video era of film, is three of Shameless’ greatest releases; Torso, Killer Nun and Night Train Murders. If you’re a fan of sleazy exploitation and like your films mean, dirty and sick then this moral breaking nasty is perfect for you! Order yours now here and be sure to vote for your favourite of the three films on the poll.
- But if horror isn’t your cup of tea at the moment, and your feel a little bit…naughty, then Arrowdrome’s new Erotic releases is sure to raise your…blood pressure. The Cheerleaders boxset (containing The Cheerleaders and The Revenge Of The Cheerleaders) and the Asian Erotica Tokyo Decadance are both out now for those seeking a little bit of T&A. Of course, these films offer much more than nudity like..the story, the acting, erm, the cinematography? Ah, what the hell! These are examples of titilating cinema at its best! Order yours now here (The Cheerleaders) and here (Tokyo Decadance) for some less than innocent film fun.
- Remakes, reimagining, redux, reblahblahblah, call them what you like – cinema has been flooded with them recently. There’s only a handful of truly great remakes that do the originals justice – the less said about Cage’s The Wickerman (“The beeeeeees!) and Friday The 13th the better. Thankfully the new Mother’s Day is one of the better remakes, and easily one of the best from recent years. It’s brutal. It’s gory. It’s twisted. It’s even got a descent plot too! And it’s out now and avaiable here. If you’re a fan of home invasion movies such as Inside, and Fight For Your Life then this is ideal for you!
STRANGLE THE CLOWN’S KILLER JOKE OF THE WEEK!
- It’s time for the Strangle the Clown’s painfully unfunny Halloween joke of the week! So, take it away Strangle…
- “Why didn’t the cannibal finish eating the clown?”
- Because it tasted funny.
Oh dear god, kill me now.
