CATCH .44: OUT NOW!

If you’re going down…take everyone with you!

When three sassy sisters-in-crime, Tes (Marlin Akerman – Wanderlust, Watchmen), Kara (Nikki Reed - Twilight) and Dawn (Deborah Ann Woll – True Blood, Mother’s Day), are sent by sleazy drug kingpin Mel (Bruce Willis – Die Hard, Grindhouse, Pulp Fiction) to rural Louisiana to intercept a lucrative dope deal, it looks like a walk in the park for the girls. But when the near-deserted roadside café erupts into an orgy of deadly gunfire before the deal even goes down it becomes apparent to all present that things aren’t quite what they seem. Whether the bloody carnage is the result of a tragic misunderstanding or something more sinister remains to be seen. Meanwhile, there’s a psychotic killer (Forrest Whitaker – The Shield, The Last King Of Scotland) on the road and there are no prizes for guessing where his journey will eventually end.

A violent crime thriller with a bad-ass attitude and a killer twist, this is an ultra-stylish cinematic love letter to the 90s-era wave of breakout indie movies that gave us “Reservoir Dogs”, “Killing Zoe”, “Pulp Fiction” and “The Usual Suspects”.

FOREST WHITAKER

Catch .44 uses the veteran actor Forest Whitaker to excellent effect, giving him the chance to get his teeth into a nice piece of multiple personality performance as a gun toting gangster trying to get away with that hardy movie perennial – The last big score. Blinded by love, possibly hugely mentally ill and certainly off the chain in the itchy trigger finger department, his portrayal of Ronny – a psychopathic chunk of right hand muscle whose finally had enough of being taken for granted – is moving and frightening in equal measure. He swings from the kind of absent minded, humble nice guy he does so well to cop killing lunatic in moments. It’s exhilarating to watch.”

BRUCE WILLIS

“It’s tricky to say anything new about Hollywood royalty like Bruce Willis. Suffice to say, he gives Catch 44 a real shot in the arm with his portrayal of a beyond evil gangster who sends minions out to sort out his shady business. Sat in a big white house surrounded by women, guns and drugs, he’s disconnected from humanity to such a degree that the rules are different.”

TARANTINO CONNECTIONS

Catch .44 is a movie that kind of exists in a similar cinematic universe to the movies of Quentin Tarantino. The same retro Americana, out of time hip world where The Bride, The Wolf, Mr. Pink and Vincent Vega reside.

THE BEST OF BRUCE

“Whilst Arnie may have the brawn and Stallone may have the speech impediment, no other action hero has quite the same versatility as Bruce Willis. On one hand, he’s the ultimate ass-kicking muscle man and yet, on the other, he’s also known for more intimate and emotionally powerful roles. With his latest movie, the very sleek and stylish Catch .44 coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray on the 28th, here’s a quick countdown of Brucey’s greatest movie moments.”
