A Right Royal Newsletter

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to another weekly Cult Labs newsletter bubbling with cult film goodness just for you! In case you’ve been living under a rock – which is, of course, entirely possible -  it was the Queen’s Jubilee earlier this week, which meant one thing to the population of Britain – a three day working week! And now it’s Friday (how time flies), so what better way to celebrate than with a quick rundown of all the new and exciting cult releases coming out soon, as recommended by her Majesty, The Queen.* So stick on God Save The Queen, boogie with some bunting, complain about the weather and eat a Yorkshire pudding  as I guide you through this week’s wonderful world of cult cinema!

ALL THE BEST CULT RELEASES

Hammer

In keeping with the British patriotism that’s been ripe this week, a whole new section has been added to the Cult Labs forum! When it comes to British Horror, one company stands heads and shoulders above the rest, Hammer Studios. From Dracula: Prince Of Darkness, Plague Of The ZombiesThe Devil Rides Out to The Woman In Black, Hammer Horror is without doubt the single greatest and most important studio in British cinema known around the world for their incredible horror output. Now, Cult Labs is the official home of the Hammer releases – a place where you can discuss to your hearts content about all these great classics. So, don’t hesitate in checking it out and joining in if you haven’t done so already!

The Squad

Calling all horror fans! Here’s a new film you will absolutely love.  Set at war, The Squad tells the chilling tale of a group of soldiers who come across a bunker that’s not quite right. A woman buried behind a wall, voodoo objects, blood everywhere but no signs of any bodies and an unshakable feeling of evil shadowing the grounds like a black raincloud about to burst at any moment. If you’re looking for a film to set the hairs on the back of your neck standing at attention, then this incredible tense psychologial horror film is just for you. Check out the official forum and the Tumblr page for all the details as well as a thread for other great Horror War films including Deathdream and Deathwatch. Take a look at the trailer too!

Arrow Video

There’s only a matter of days left until Arrowdrome’s X-Rental box set is out! Containing 6 classic slices of exploitation cult cinema, this beautiful box set contains Maniac Cop, The Cheerleaders, Revenge Of The Cheerleaders, Penitentiary, Penitentiary II and McBain at an incredible prize! Pre-order yours here (for only £12!) and visit the Specs thread for all the details of this release. Have you picked up your copies of The House By The Cemetery, Demons 1 & 2 and Forbidden Zone yet? Well, don’t forget to let us know what you thought of them over on the Official Arrow forum!

Shameless Screen Entertainment

The countdown to Shameless’ next release is well and truly under way! With just over a month left until the Shameless Pop Erotica Box Set is due for its release (see here for more details), what better time to conduct a sleazy marathon of Shameless entertainment. Work your way through your collection! Why not stick on Fulci’s The New York Ripper or the nunsploitation classic Killer Nun? Perhaps a healthy dose of giallo is in order with What Have They Done To Your Daughters?, Watch Me When I Kill and My Dear Killer. Or maybe something slightly more disturbing; Cannibal Holocaust, The House On The Edge Of The Park perhaps? Whatever Shameless films you choose to watch this week, come on over to the forum and share your thoughts. Got a suggestion or a question for Shameless? Let us know on the forum and we’ll get back to you with the answer!
