Congratulations! You’ve just given birth to a beautiful… horse-mutant-baby?!

You better believe it! This week, a news story that could’ve come straight from a Cronenberg movie was released. Apparently, in Nigeria, during a church service a woman gave birth to a still-born baby horse. A HORSE! It’s the real life equivalent of the Brundlefly. But if you think that’s weird, you don’t know the half of it. Apparently, giving birth to strange non-human creatures is not as unheard of or as fictional as you may like to believe. Newspapers over the years, have reported women giving birth to all kinds of weird things from an eight-legged crab like creature with a birds head to 17 rabbits, a goat and a human-headed spider, and who can forget the (highly dubious) claims from a women who believed she was carrying a Bigfoot’s baby?! It’s a crazy world we live in. Thankfully, there is plenty of proper and decent entertainment, full of moral, sophistication and positive and enlightening stories. Then, there’s the stuff we like.

So bring on the gore, bring on the mutant baby monsters and let’s celebrate cult cinema once again with this week’s roundup of the very best releases!

Beneath The Darkness – It’s out now! The highly awaited release of the latest Dennis Quaid film is finally here. Starring Quaid as Norman Bates-style-psycho killer, this thriller is perfect for those looking for a good, creepy horror with little gore. People being buried alive, dead wives and murder flourish in this film. To celebrate we’ve created a fun blog about some of cinema’s greatest mass murderers who (apparently) wouldn’t hurt a fly. Sinister – “Prepare to be terrified” – It’s a warning we keep telling you guys when it comes to Sinister, the scariest film of the year, and we couldn’t be more serious! Out on the 1st October across the UK, I managed to catch the film at the Cambridge Film Festival over the weekend. The audience were terrified -and that’s putting it lightly. So, if you think you can brave this, go ahead, be our guest. But if you have nightmares and scream like a little girl, well, don’t say we didn’t warn you!

We Are The Night – If you like vampire films but hate those twinkly Twilight ‘films’, then look no further than We Are The Night. From the makers of Urban Explorers comes a vamp flick that’s both sexy and gruesome. Possibly the best vampire film since Let The Right One In, you can find out more on the film’s new forum.

Arrow Video – There’s a whole bunch of awesome Arrow titles coming out shortly that you have got to check out. From Lady Snowblood to Zombie Flesh Eaters, Super Bitch to Christmas Evil – this year is proving to be an incredible year for Arrow fans.
