Head on over to the official forum at 12 today for all the details. It’s easily the most Shameless cover of them all!
Cult Events This Weekend!
There’s always something to do to appease your horror-hungry urges, especially as Halloween draws nearer. This weekend there’s a fantastic event that’s well worth going to if you’re in the area. An evening with Cult star Brian Cox in Birmingham this Saturday! The legendary actor will be joining the double bill of two of his best movies, Manhunter and Trick R Treat. Head here for all the details on this one.
OUT NOW
Released on both DVD and Blu-ray earlier this week from Anchor Bay Entertainment was the new splatterific slasher film, No One Lives. Staring Luke Evans (a true hit with the ladies who you’ll be seeing a lot more of in the future) as a killer on the loose, taking out a bunch of yokel criminals one severed limb at a time, No One Lives is a hugely fun movie! It quickly became a fan favourite at FrightFest this year and will no doubt be a fave in your horror collection. Treat yourself to this great throwback to when horror movies used to be fun with a superb cast, great inventive kills and pure vengeance-thirsty adrenaline!
A KILLER COLLECTION
So, you think you’ve got a pretty impressive DVD/Blu-ray collection, right? A collection of gory, gross and sometimes terrifying (but fun!) horrors? Well, take a look at the new sequel to the hugely adored V/H/S, the upcoming V/H/S/2. A modern horror anthology film that sits shoulder to shoulder with some of the genre’s best including Creepshow and Trick R Treat, V/H/S/2 has been healmed by critics and horror fans lucky enough to already have seen it, as a much better film than the original. I’ve seen it and I absolutely LOVED it! Consisting of 4 extremely gory and hugely fun stories (wrapped around with an equally great tale), it’s got aliens, killer cults, zombies, demons, murder, suicide, ghosts and lots and lots of that lovely gore! The film has a very impressive list of directors behind the movie too, including the minds behind Hobo With A Shotgun, You’re Next, The Raid and The Blair Witch Project. To celebrate it’s upcoming release, head to the official Twitter page and take a look at the newly updated VHS forum!
Frankenstein’s Army
From one future cult classic horror movie to another with Frankenstein’s Army. A crazed Nazi scientist is working on something very twisted, mixing the re-animated body parts of dead soldiers with machinery and scrap technology, creating an army of…ZOMBOTS! Frankenstein’s Army is the perfect popcorn horror film with some of the most original and entertaining monsters since Hellraiser. What are some of your favourite movies that deal with man-made monsters? Visit our album and suggest your own…
Curse Of Chucky
Talking of superior sequels, there’s perhaps no better example than the utterly terrific new Chucky movie, Curse Of Chucky. Bringing the Chuckster back firmly in the horror genre, with a nice touch of the gothic, Curse Of Chucky is the movie fans have been dying to see since Child’s Play 3! Chucky really is at his very best here. If you haven’t pre-ordered your copy of this film yet, head here to treat yourself and visit the official Facebook page for lots of Chucky-themed fun! Don’t forget to pick up the latest issue of Starbust too!
Well, that’s it for this week and this Month. I’ll be seeing you either on the Cult Labs forum or in next week’s newsletter! We have got lots of great stuff planned for October as the greatest holiday of all approaches, Halloween. So, don’t miss out!
