Check out what online reviewers have been saying about we are the night…
“Overall, We Are the Night is a well-crafted film that draws its inspiration from some of the best films of the genre and adds a few neat touches of its own. The special effects are very good and don’t go down the path of overly-obvious CGI, the cast are all fantastic in their roles and for the true vampire connoisseur there is a lot to be taken away from this film.” – ONE METAL
“There are some really lovely moments in We Are The Night too – like when Lena becomes a vampire and her body heals itself; removing wounds, growing her hair and dissolving her tattoos! It is superbly directed by Dennis Gansel, with some stunning visuals and brutally brilliant action.” – GORE PRESS
“Things have moved on a long way since Christopher Lee camped it up in Dracula back in 1958. We Are The Night is a new take on the vampire saga, and mighty effective it is too.” – THE HOLLYWOOD NEWS
“This film has a lot of fun exposing the habitual, excessive and gluttonous life of a vampire.”- TWITCH
“Like The Lost Boys for the Cyber Generation, We Are the Night immerses us right off the bat with a seductive soundtrack and hip style.” – ABOUT HORROR
For a more recent example of a chilling ghostly thriller, look no further than The Pact….

“I see dead people.” If these four words don’t send the shivers up your spine, I congratulate you. The Sixth Sense, released in 1999, is perhaps the best known ghost film and the worst kept secret.
Upon release, this film put director M Night Shyamalan firmly on the thriller map. His signature traits were quickly established and introduced to the public, with his focus on character, awkward self cameos and surprise endings associated with his name. Of course, anyone who is anyone already knows the whole plot and the twist of this classic film…even if they haven’t seen it! Spoofed and parodied countless times – it’s no wonder that this masterclass in suspense has entered the public’s collective conscious, horror fan or not.
The film was also an interesting choice for Mr. Bruce Willis. Sure he’s stared in his fair share of comedies and animations, but this slapheaded hero is best known for his kick-ass action roles. The Sixth Sense opened Willis up and showed his other side to his incredible talents, in a hit blockbuster thriller.
The ghosts in this film are among some of the most disturbing and shocking ghosts in cinema. These aren’t simply an invisible hand or a blurry humanoid fuzz. These look as real as you or I, except with some very gruesome injuries of course!
With its twisting and turning plot, fascinating characters and a psychologically disturbing premise, The Sixth Sense is an undeniable classic of the genre. The recently release The Pact shares many similar traits to this film (mixed with The Amityville Horror and The Others). So, if you’re looking for a spooky movie to compliment The Sixth Sense nicely, look no further!

Michael Parkinson, Sarah Greene and Craig Charles stared in this mockumentary that explored the terrifying goings on of a family and a spooky presence nicknamed Pipes. The hour long show quickly erupted into the realms of madness culminating with a ‘live’ onscreen death, and complete chaos as the poltergeist’s power boomed. Despite the fact the show included the writing and cast credits, many viewers (most likely late tunner-ins) thought what they were seeing was anything but fiction. The show sparked huge controversy as viewers were petrified to their souls seeing, what they thought, was a genuine manevelant poltergeist reeking havoc.
Very similar to the Orson Welles’ War Of The Worlds radio show, Ghostwatch was a clever and frightening satire on 90′s television and television audiences. This show helped to pave the way for other hugely popular ghost films that blurred the lines between fiction and reality, including Paranormal Activity.
For a more recent and equally terrifying poltergeist thriller, be sure to check out The Pact - available from Monday!

From one soppy ghost film, Field Of Dreams to another! As you see, ghost films went in a very different direction from the mid-80s onwards compared to the early creepy and kooky horror films. From all out horror to comedy to films about…feelings! Released in 1990 and staring Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg, the film merged the ghostly afterlife with a romantic tale that is sure to get any viewer sobbing into a tissue.
A personal favorite of mine, Ghost is quite possibly the biggest tearjerker ghost film of all time. A powerful story of the power of the love, told brilliantly with a touch of humor and horror. The film was a phenomenal hit, grossing over $505 million at the box office on a budget of $21 million, and was the highest-grossing film of 1990. It’s inseparable soundtrack with the emotional rendition of Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers, which has since become a favorite Wedding tune! Sure enough, the film received a theatrical musical version, aptly titled Ghost: The Musical which debuted last year in the West End.
For something just as powerful, but much more terrifying, be sure to check out The Pact!

As we’ve seen, the 80s was a strange time for ghost movies. The early years of the decade saw some of the greatest and most iconic ghost horrors of all time, but by the mid-80s the boom of family friendly films had melted into the horror and sci-fi genre, with such films as Ghostbusters. So, what about the late 80s? Well, the feel good trend of the 80s had created one of cinemas most touching ghost stories; Field Of Dreams.
“Build it and he will come,” the film’s most memorable quote announces. It couldn’t be more correct! Since its original release in 1989, audiences have been drawn to this unique fantasy tale. It has received a staggering amount of praise and even Roger Ebert gave it a perfect rating. The film has left such a mark, that the movie’s location is a popular tourist attraction!
Staring such talent as Kevin Costner (in one of his key roles), Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta, and Burt Lancaster in his final ever movie role, the movie offers something a lot of ghost stories lack. Heart. It’s an emotional roller-coaster throughout, and anyone who watches without a box of tissues nearby is going to have a bad time when the film reaches its powerful climax.
For something a little more creepy, don’t miss The Pact, out on DVD and Blu-ray 1st October!

]]>Released in 1984 and staring comedy superstars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Rick Moranis, Ghostbusters was a completely different breed of ghost film than the early 80s output. No longer were ghosts and phantoms for adults only, but were now part of the family entertainment. In fact, the film pays homage to and parodies the grizzly The Entity with its darkly comic take on ghosts and sex.
It seems that horror and sci-fi had suddenly become family friendly. The middle of this decade saw a boom in similar movies from The Little Shop Of Horrors, Beetlejuice and Gremlins scaring and making kids laugh was never so popular.
A slightly inferior, but still immensely fun, sequel followed along with a kids TV show. Will there be a third Ghostbusters movie? Well, the idea has long since been toyed with, so fingers crossed there will be!
For something a little more creepy, don’t miss The Pact, out on DVD and Blu-ray 1st October!

Staring Caity Lotz as a woman who moves into her childhood home, only to be terrorized by a ghostly presence with a disturbing secret, her performance in this is perfect. This character is anything but a dim-witted scream queen. She’s intelligent, strong and determined. Most people would probably run screaming when confronted by the paranormal activity in this film, but not Lotz’s character who sticks it out and is driven to find out the sinister secret behind the entity.
But don’t be fooled into believing she’s nothing more than an emotionless, super strong hero. She’s no Ripley or Lara Croft. Instead, she’s much more believable than those, blending sensitivity and power perfectly. Similar to Jodie Foster in Silence Of The Lambs and Sarah Connor from The Terminator, The Pact is one of those rare films that have a strong but vulnerable female led principle cast. The Pact is a film that will not only terrify you but will make you care for and believe the characters. These are not weak, scream queens. These are strong-willed, classy ladies who aren’t going to let a spooky ghost scare them without some answers!
Take a look at this brilliant clip to see for yourself how gutsy she is!
THE PACT is available on DVD and Blu-ray 1st October. Pre-order yours today!
