Amer continues to pick up praise from reviewers who get the films point, which is rework the look and style of Giallo movies and Italian genre movies into an impressionistic work of arthouse cinema, rather than a tacky retread of the worst excesses of the era, drenched in post-modern irony. I know which movie I’d prefer to see and the sometimes wordless drift of Amer is visual feast for lovers of classic cult cinema.
