Part ‘Rocky’ for the cage fighting generation, part ‘Karate Kid’ for adults, the action-packed fight flick Circle Of Pain brings together the old and the new of the mixed martial arts world in an explosive and redemptive tale of one fighter’s reluctant comeback to the gladiatorial ring.

Starring Dean Cain (The New Adventures Of Superman), Bai Ling (Crank: High Voltage) and Louis Herthum (The Last Exorcism; The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button) alongside World Karate Champion Tony Schiena (Locked Down; Wake Of Death) and mixed martial artists and Ultimate Fighting Championship legends Heath Herring (Never Surrender), Kimbo Slice (Locked Down; Blood And Bone), Roger Huerta (Tekken), Frank Mir (Hells Chain) and Miguel Torres, Circle Of Pain was written by Bobby Mort and directed by Daniel Zirilli (the team behind Locked Down).

When a friendly sparring session between MMA champion Dalton Hunt (Schiena) and his best buddy Wyatt (Cain) goes horribly wrong, leaving Wyatt crippled and confined to a wheelchair, Dalton announces his retirement from the sport vowing never to return to the ring. But when a ruthless fight promoter, Victoria Rualan (Ling), discovers Dalton still has one bout left on his contract she sees this as a golden opportunity to set up a lucrative ‘dream clash’ between him and the fearsome new and undefeated title holder, Colin ‘The Brick’ Wahle (Never Surrender).

Out of shape and with only two months to prepare for the biggest fight of his life, Dalton takes Wyatt’s advice and turns to an old, semi-retired trainer, Willy (Herthum), for help with his training. However, it’s not only Dalton’s physical condition that needs to be improved. In order to succeed in his one, last return to the fray, Dalton must overcome the inner demons that originally forced him to quit and instead to become again the warrior he once was.

Full of brilliantly choreographed street fighting and cage fighting sequences and bruising and bone-crunching mixed martial arts action, Circle Of Pain is a must-see movie for UFC fans and martial arts enthusiasts alike.

Circle Of Pain (cert. 15) will be released on DVD (£12.99) by Chelsea Films on 24th January 2011
