Richard Wenk’s none-more-80s bloodsucking classic VAMP, starring that true original Grace Jones, is out now on UK DVD and Blu-Ray.

BEYOND HOLLYWOOD nails the retro appeal of the movie in their review:

” “Vamp” has pretty much everything an 80s genre fan could ask for – frat pranks, strippers, cringe-worthy racial stereotypes and a hilariously outdated sense of cool. The film is the genuine article and a real throwback in the best sense of the word, likely to bring a tear to the eye of older viewers with fond memories of those heady, carefree days of wacky excess.”

There’s only one Grace Jones. In a sea of generic, cookie cutter celebrities she stands out a genuinely eccentric artist. One gets the feeling that she’d be like this even if the camera wasn’t watching. Some people always need a stage.

Her extraordinary icy persona combined with a forward thinking mix of Disco, Rock, Pop and Reggae influences helped create some truly original music while her oddball style saw her cast in some strange roles, including the beautiful but deadly bloodsucker Katrina in VAMP.

Look out for her warrior role in Conan the Destroyer or her Eiffel Tower jumping turn in View to a Kill as May Day. She also shows up in Alex Cox’s Punk Spaghetti Western movie Straight to Hell.
