"The Owl Service" by Alan Garner. Very weird kids book from 1967 with the story told almost completely in dialogue. It concerns three teenagers in the present trapped by and in the past. It has the feel of "Quatermass and the Pit" but is bugger all like it, if that's any help describing it!
