I do agree with you on this but I think th emain issue is the constant slew of remakes in lieu of any originality in Hollywood. I remember reading the top ten highest-grossing films of last year and they were all remakes/franchises/sequels with the exception of Inception. Now I know as fans of genre/cult cinema box office figures aren't really something we pay attention to but it is a bit of a sobering thought.
