To me the original effects look real, the new ones look like effects.

****! They are nice effect's (I like the flame's in particulare) but on principle they should have provided both versions.

Thanks for the link to the comparison pics, yeah as an optional version it wouldn't be bad as the new effects still fit the film, but we need the original version available too.

I'm not cancelling my order, but I'm ****ing super pissed off. Definite bad move on Studio Canal's part which I think will affect sales down the line

Obviously not on the same scale, but does everyone remember back in 1997 when those first editions of the tweaked Star Wars films turned up? I for one was very disappointed with the added shite that was not needed, this is kind of similar, it aint broke...

I was only ten at the time, so I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. But just the other week I saw the South Park piss take of it. It was hilarious

This is the first time I'm hearing about this fx makeover - very bad move on StudioCanal's part. I wonder who brought this to the table, I know Hammer have always regretted how the fx work on Devil Rides Out turned out but the film is what it is, and StudioCanal should have provided the original version first and foremost, and perhaps as an extra, the doctored version... Having said all that Devil Rides Out is one of my least favourite Hammer pics but this doesn't bode well for future Hammer releases...
