I've never seen The Stone Tape, but a Nigel Kneale doc I saw ages ago (think it might be on the BBC Quatermass set) ruined the ending, which took some of the shine off . . .

Also, I'm just throwing this out there for any fans of '70s British TV films, but I'd highly recommend Penda's Fen to anyone who hasn't seen it.

EDIT: On closer inspection, it seems to be an episode of 'Play for Today'. Still worth checking out, though!
Most Play for Today films are on YouTube, so that may be the easiest way to watch it.

Suspiria was already going to make my list at a high spot, but after a rewatch it might be my top film. I can't decide whether or not it is better than The Exorcist.

For me it is, but each to their own.

Glad to see this thread under-go a slight resurrection - hopefully everyone is working tirelessly on their lists?!

I've had my list ready for a while now... I think I've made some slight adjustments, but will post it again nearer the deadline.

One of my faves from the 70's has to be Suspiria

My list is sitting here on my desk, looking at me accusingly, daring me to pick favourites. Ohh! It's so difficult! It's like being asked to pick my favourite product of my loins. I can't choose between my children! NO, IT'S HARDER THAN THAT! I've known some of theses films longer than I've known my kids!...

AND I don't know how to spell URRRERRRGH! SEE IT'S GOT A RED WAVY LINE UNDER IT! FFFT!

There doesn't seem much love for The Shout in these lists.

It clearly is a very underrated classic.

SJ and B_E, i noticed were the only ones to give it a mention in the first 5 or 6 lists i looked at.

Indeed it seems to be.

I rarely come across many who have seen it. It's certainly an acquired taste, but I'd definitely recommend that people check it out.
