As far as I'm aware it is a film,
Series is HBO and not been fully announced of cast etc yet,

Quite right, gag. It's definitely a film.

@Treb - don't let Susan's fake news lead you astray.

Once again, and this movie may be good or bad who knows? It begs the question why?

Why do movie and tv execs continually reboot and remake the same old stuff?

Of course Hellraiser is based on a classic story by novelist Clive Barker but it's not the only thing he wrote. Why not push the boat out and adapt something else? Barker's name should attract interest then if the finished product is good enough it'll be successful. Have these people never heard of Weaveworld for example?

God forbid they could even try adapting the work of other horror writers such as Richard Laymon, Shaun Hutson or even Brian Lumley. You know get away from the same old tired tropes.

From what I remember Weaveworld would be ideal for a tv series. "we've got the carpet!" "We've lost the carpet!!" etc. Cliffhangers a gogo there

Is it just that this recent spell of cover versions is symptomatic of a larger problem? With these "remodelled" takes on old stuff, what I'm reminded of isn't pretty. Revising history can only lead to a dearth of new ideas as mistakes from the past get forgotten about and then sadly repeated due to a closed system of "approved" thoughts.

Ahem. As you were.

I've said it for years I would love too see nercroscope as a film or series , I do think Barker's other works like weaveworld etc would be pretty hard to do.

Think after the slugs which is guilty pleasure , hutson probably doesn't want anyone touching his work. Plenty of great Herbert stories that could be done but it they did the Fog one scene they would have to change.
