I love Riz Ortolani's score too, the first time I watched the film the music struck me as really eerie sounding.A bit like the first time I watched Fulci's Zombi 2 and heard Fabio Frizzi's weird, but brilliant, score.

I could'nt agree more with this statement, I bought the Ultrabit version a few weeks back and the quality was fantastic. also mine was a numbered limited edition.

Yeah, I think its a magnificent film, and one of the few genuine masterpieces from the Video Nasty era. The way the film is structured gives it a depth and ambition that stands it apart from the Italian Cannibal genre. I'd put Cannibal Holocaust up there with Salo, for the best in cinematic extreme. I think Deodato's Last Cannibal World / Jungle Holocaust is excellent too, well worth catching...

Hmm accordin to that even the Ultrabit has 3 cuts while Grindhouse has 10 secs but it says there are 10 secs of cuts to the scene within the movie and no mention of the extra feature. I will try and find confirmation that the extra on the grindhouse release is the full scene or not.

I think it says the EC includes the 3 cuts (10 seconds) missing from other versions, but it could be clearer with its wording!

Ah I misread it

But Im still sure the Grindhouse release contains the full sequence as a extra. Just need to find the proof.

Yes DVD Compare isn't 100% reliable at times. Best to check on other sites for absolute confirmation.

A land-mark film but not perhaps entertainment. Too much of this sticks with you to make it a "fun" horror experience. Certainly a film that takes you to the heart of darkness more than any other I can think of. A real journey that leaves you feeling more than a little relieved at the end. Without doubt the most important horror film of the 80's and probably beyond. Is it entertainment though? No, I don't think so. More an endurance test but of course that doesn't mean it is any less important.

I preferred this to Cannibal Holocaust. Especially Massimo Foschi's superb performance.
