Cynicism is perfectly understandable on both fronts. Chances of either one producing films that are anything like the originals in this day and age are extremely low.

A big difference between somebody taking over the running of a film production studio as Gore has done with Hammer with a new cinema release about to come out with actual, you know, recognisable stars in Eddie Izzard, Simon Callow and Lindsay Duncan and some chancers making micro budget films and being allowed to call them Amicus productions.

As for your second sentence. How was The Woman in Black not similar to classic Hammer for instance? It had a strong cast, fantastic sets and one hell of an atmosphere.

Woman In Black is great. But in my humble opinion, there is one big difference from the older Hammer films. It had an awful lot of jump scares, probably too many imo and that seems to be very much a modern horror film take.

That still annoys me, but I feel I have to ask why you have brought it up again?

This should be taken as a lesson against virtue signalling. Don’t get offended on behalf of someone else. Eddie Izzard is their well established stage name, I’m sure they know exactly what they’re doing professionally without others chiming in.

The question people SHOULD be asking is does the film actually look any good?
