I've also been listening to "Throbbing Gristle's Greatest Hits", a band that have always left me rather indifferent to their sound but after constantly hearing their praise being sung on Cult Labs, I thought I'd give them a go. As luck would have it, there are some shiny new releases out so I went for the "Greatest Hits" and I'm loving it. Thanks to Thehamish, Wes and anyone else who has mentioned them in the past. |
I've got Volume one of
Afro Noise and I heartily agree with you. Whilst I don't dig out my
Whitehouse back catalogue regularly, this stuff is easily the best thing that Bennett's done, well for me anyway.
Two of my favourite musical elements combine - traditional drumming and abstract electronics - a big, big, big recommend from em too.
I don't think you've done anything wrong in reappraising
TG. Some of their stuff is absolutely sublime and I always like to go back and 'rediscover' elements of their work.
Chris Carter's solo output is worth a punt too, especially as he was the key 'music' provider for me within
TG and his sonic fingerprint is pretty obvious, but I'm a sucker for nearly anything electronic.
