Agreed on both counts.
Day works as it was painfully obvious initially that it had major budget limitations, this is less prominent in most other stories.
I watched
Kinda in the weeks leading up to Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hindle was brilliantly deranged and pretty scary as his actions were so unpredictable. As you say the snake redesign makes it a lot more fearsome than the original rubber creature.
