You wait ages for a film about images imprinted on eyeballs then 2 come along at once - I'm talking of course about Four Flies on Grey Velvet and Horror Express both of which I've seen over the last 24 hours. Both have excellent blu ray transfers, both are great fun - the crucial difference is that HE has 2 of the greatest ever horror actors whereas FFOGV has, er, Michael Landon. Peter Cushing can make lines like 'is Dr Saxton's fossil still at large?' and 'Oh my God it's a brontosauraus!' sound perfectly plausable but Mr Landon struggles to register the slightest emotion never mind carry a line. I think Argento movies need to be anchored by good actors - see Karl Malden and Max Von Syndow who saved pretty rotten movies - but FFOGV lacks any gravitas and flutters into the air, a big load of flashy nothing (apart from the last scene of course which is the best thing DA ever shot)
