I think 70 mm is around that, yes, with a BD able to store about 2K. I'm pretty sure you can get the information from the 35mm negative onto a BD, but the resolution from 70 mm is to large even for a disc with such a large storage capacity.

The HD encoding for the 2001: A Space Odyssey BD was taken from the 70 mm negative which is why it looks so good, but the BD couldn't cope with the sheer amount of information which had been digitally scanned.
