As for 'Lightning Bolt', yeah, gut level churning gets me every time.
Just listening to 'James Ferraro', his concept album about The Sims based on corporate jingles. It's a bit annoying really, but there's a good bit involving something about the virtual avatars of Richard Branson and Gordon Ramsay. What these crappily British figures mean to an avant garde Californian uber-hipster, I have no idea. He used to do some really good stuff with 'Skaters', most of which was on tiny CD-R labels and impossible to get hold of now, although there's some on YouTube which I'd put up if I knew how to embed. It's really freaked out noise based on wordless vocal drones - the kind of sounds that drift into your mind's ear at three o'clock in the morning after a bit too much mandrake.
