Escape from L.A. is perhaps his worst but it does have its moments. I even quite like Ghosts of Mars, its a decent action flick.

In The Mouth of Madness is a criminally underrated film, imo. In fact, I would say that along with Halloween and The Thing, ItMoM ranks as one of Carpenter's greatest cinematic achievements. I'd also rate it, along with Quatermass and the Pit, as one of the finest
de facto Lovecraftian films ever made.
