I'm not sure if it was better than the trailers implied, but it was certainly less wacky and with fewer scenes of Barnabas Collins being confused by modern technology, slang and behaviour. It was just different to how it was portrayed in the trailer, but I've learned from experience to never to judge a film by its trailer.
