I'm still astonished by the ending of this film. Granted no one ever exits a Fulci film with any degree of happiness but The Beyond must surely be the man's blackest, bleakest ending. I love that weird shot of the feet running on the stairs. Anyone know what Fulci thought of Suspiria and Inferno ? I think The Beyond (and City of the Living Dead) would never have happened without those earlier films. I'm not saying Fulci was ripping off Argento, just that those films must have freed him up to experiment...
