As far as I know, almost no Italian films had live sound recording at the time. So in that sense they had no original language, and any voices were dubbed in at the studio in post-production. But while the Italian voices were mostly done with care, the English ones were usually recorded in haste and often supervised by technicians who had little or no English themselves. Moreover, the English texts were sometimes quite moronic, to the point of missing or distorting important plot points.
Le Orme may be an exception - if you have any specific information on that count, I would be most interested to know, - but I saw the film in Italian and was quite satisfied with that version. With the English one I am not yet familiar.
