The BBFC have never cut or banned it. Kubrick withdrew the film from UK cinemas in 1973 after allegedly receiving death threats and, as he owned the UK rights to it, he refused to re-release it. It was only reissued after his death.

Ferman said he would have cut the film (the rape scenes) if it had been submitted to him during his time as censor.
