Reverse the films and that is my opinion
For me, Lost Boys is one of the films I used to watch regularly as a kid, along with Ghostbusters, The Goonies, Big Trouble in Little China, Gremlins etc. Near Dark I only saw for the first time about 10 years ago and despite owning it and watching it a few times over the last few years, I just don't see what the big deal is, I find it quite boring, but that's just my opinion.
Plus The Lost Boys has one of the best soundtracks of any film from the 80's
