I agree with Maya here, this movie is kinda sweet, I like it more than I should in fact. So J.Lo is the worst thing about this film, but Affleck's performance in the more emotional and tender scenes come in at a very close second, he's a good actor most of the time, don't get me wrong, but he is not believable as a man who has lost his wife and is bringing up his child.
That aside, it's interesting coming to Jersey Girl in release date order, this being sandwiched between 2 madcap comedies, Kevin Smith makes a pretty good drama, I imagine some people picked this up and were waiting for the jokes that never came and were pretty disappointed and maybe that's why it wasn't all that successful when it first came out. I enjoyed it though, it's far from his best, but it's not awful, it's actually really sweet and I'm glad I re watched it.
