A history lesson:
For people of a certain age, and lifestyle, the Stonehenge Festival needs no introduction
Starting in 1972, a free music festival was held at the world famous heritage site in Wiltshire over the summer equinox. Hippies from all over the world congregated to listen to music, get high (which I do NOT condone) and welcome in the sun - a mini Glastonbury, if you like
However, by the early 80's, "the man" had decided that it was not a good idea, and damage was being done to the stones, so "they" decided to stop the festival. In 1985, English courts banned the Free Festival from being held at Stonehenge, leading to the infamous 'Battle of the Beanfield', and subsequently, no festivals have been held at the site
Hawkwind were *the* house-band, and this was their response:
The ultimate irony song. Hawkwind doing an anti-drug thing!!!!
