You've used this argument before. Sorry, but it doesn't wash with me.
I think
Casablanca is the finest film of all time. Yet never saw it in the forties and watched countless rip offs like
Barb Wire before i saw the original.
True class is there for all time, no matter when in your life you see it.
The Haunting is my favourite ghost story. Even though i've seen it many times now, it can still send shivers down my spine whilst watching it in the right enviroment. Its certainly not diminished by the millions of turgid spooky horrors in the years since.
