Surely if three people have a film as a favourite rather than two, that would count more than points.

Possibly, although the positioning is a big factor too, as a counter-argument could be made that a film very highly loved by two members may outweigh a film that is seen as pretty good by three etc.

Therefore this method was the only fair and uniform way I could think of to tally the votes and devise the ranking. I think it works very well (and is fair) to an extent, although as mentioned above, lower placed films are hampered slightly by the overall small sample size (22 lists) and lack of 'longer' lists. Just one more vote for a film could potentially move it from the bottom ten into one of the mid-tier rankings etc. As we move further up the list, it will become more representative though.

However, we had a lot more interest than I expected (in large part to your good self knocking on doors baseball bat in hand!) so the list is certainly more representative than I thought it would be and hopefully when it is all posted it will continue to become a discussion point and the participants will have enjoyed the experience, which is what matters really.
