Bloody Homecoming (2012)
Derivitive throwback to the golden era of high school slasher movies. After an uneven, bordering on the dull, first hour, the homecoming dance gets under way as do the bloody murders. I can't put my finger on it but Bloody Homecoming was just lacking something. Perhaps it was too bright due to being digitally filmed, then again it could be that the incidental music was too low in the mix, or the fact it wasn't exactly thrilling for two thirds of the run time, concentrating on the students and their frankly boring conversations. Then again perhaps it was a combination of all these things.
The final third is a definite improvement. Enlivened by some gory kills with practical special effects. The killer reveal came as a surprise, but perhaps this was due to my mind wandering so much during the first sixty minutes that any clues failed to register.
