The whole idea of remakes and reboots is exploitation cinema in its purest form, the quality of the films is irrelevant to the money to be made and the word of mouth, negative or positive generated. I find this whole idea very appealing as a fan of the production and marketing of exploration films from the 30s onwards. Cinema has always been like this, it is how it survives. I have no desire to watch half the films but the knowledge that there is an endless cycle of shite being churned out to fleece the rubes of their cash is good to me. Why does anyone think the new Star Wars film was made, there was no need for it, the story had been concluded at the end of Part VI but there was a ready made audience with cash in their pockets and nostalgia in their eyes ready to be suckered in.
