I only ask because I was going to buy Stephen King's Storm of the Century recently and not only was the American version all on one disc (4hrs+) it came with a bonus 12 movies and they were on a second disc in the set
I decided against buying that and as a result I'm still trying to track down a UK 2 disc version without having to pay £20 for the pleasure!
