I'll probably get stoned to death for this but I find a lot of the classical scores rather boring. They're often great in the confines of their cinematic prison, but outside and independent I feel a lot of them lose most of their 'power' and their often simplistic magnificence is converted into the mundane or even the inappropriate without the supporting visual aid to compliment their effects.
I did kind of consider Burton's Batman and Jaws in terms of more classical scores, but they don't really 'do it' for me as much as the ones I eventually decided on listing. |
I'm with you on the Clasical score front, Hans Zimmer etc all sound the same to me. Same with Godfather type Morricone, I love Morricone but give me the Spagetti and Giallo stuff, screw the Mission and the like. Yawn.
