As for how it fell so flat, it's because HBO rushed him to make another season after the success of the first, when the first was in development a lot longer. HBO have actually come out and admitted that True Detective will only work if they allow the show runner to take his time and do things his pace, which is why there hasn't been a third season yet. |
I thought it had been cancelled altogether? Series 2 is definitely very different to the first, very generic, incredibly slow and dull. Be interesting to see what you think when you've seen it mind. That said i only watched half the series because it was so poor.
