I dont want to say too much but if you liked Blacks other output like Last boyscout, kiss kiss bang bang, leathal weapon ect then you will likely enjoy this. Probably the most enjoyable film Russel crowe has been in for some time and Ryan Gosling proves he has some comedic skills in his role as a drunken asshole/private eye. I thouroughly enjoyed it. |
I also watched this a couple of days ago and didn't realise it was a Shane Black film until the end credits rolled, so it all clicked into place way reminded me so much of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang – not that that is a bad thing. Of the two, I probably prefer The Nice Guys because of the period design, character dynamics and superb performance by the Australian actress Angourie Rice. However, I will probably need to watch them both again to definitively say which one is better or I enjoy the most.
