The distributor usually licenses it from the licensee for a set amount of time or for a set number of units - they usually get first refusal on whether they want to re-license though. When the license expires the film then returns to the licensor. Cinema Club (who I don't think even exist anymore) would only have been the distributor - just like Arrow licensing MGM/Fox stuff or Twilight Time licensing from Sony etc.

My earlier post was a little confusing as Starz/Anchor Bay didn't really 'own' Hellraiser in the UK/US, they merely licensed & distributed it. I'm not actually sure who owns Hellraiser in the UK, although in the US I believe it's Lakeshore.
