Very true, but realistic settings and costumes make the story easier to digest. Also, I feel stories like this are best suited in hour-long blocks than half-hour ones (Dickensian and, apparently, Bleak House are probably the exception to the rule). When I have finished this one, however look out for the more recent Jane Eyre adaptation with Ruth Wilson and, if possible, add it to my Lovefilm list.
