The BBFC are following the law: the Cinematograph Films (Animals) Act 1937. They can't do anything about the broadcasting of horseracing because that is not within their remit and is classed as sport, not a film. The two are not at all linked.

I am not saying this makes it right and that animals dying in the name of sport is okay (in my opinion it is not and should be banned), but that is the legal situation.
