James Spader is an cryptologist who used to work for SETI and now works Berkeley university, who is approached by the government to investergate a sigianl from and artifact found at the south pole,arriving at the faclity he is greeted by an ex girlfriend and her asshole of a boyfriend amost others. It soon becomes clear that the artifact is trying to communicate and something maybe inside, things take a turn for the worse when the item is opened just as Spader decodes the message warning not to open it, the artifact release some soft of virus which changes the gentic code of what it infects. Paranoia soon runs rampant and people turn on one another especially the asshole when the base comes under lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus to the outside world, taking parts from better knowing films such as the thing and contact amongst others while not as good as any of the films it borrows ideas from there are worse ways to spend 90 minutes. 6.5/10
