Because I have very little access to independent cinemas, using my Unlimited Cineworld card for the bulk of my viewing and, when that fails, will visit the local Vue, the chances I'll see
The Irishman at a cinema are very small. Unless it is screened at a private venue like an art centre (the Arc in Stockton or Forum in Northallerton are closest, but not ideal), the first chance I'll have to view it will be in my bedroom at the same time as the rest of the British population, which is absurd for any film, let alone an epic gangster film by Martin Scorsese!
My guess is the only people who will see the film in a cinema are those who live in, or travel frequently to, London. It is sad that cinemas are being marginalised in such a way and this is considered 'progress'.
