Rewatched del Toro's Devil's Backbone via a decent upload on youtube - before you attack me for not buying it, bear in mind that I have just paid an electricity bill and am more than skint (my wife and I only have 40 hrs work per week between us).

Thought it was a 7/10 film that whilst was more than decent, I personally still have no desire to buy a physical copy of (I personally prefer to keep my film collection at no more than 700 titles at any given time and it's not unusual to whittle down titles every six months so that I just keep favourites).

Remembered Devil's Backbone quite well from a friend's prior dvd viewing so nothing came as much of a surprise. That friend was quite a big fan, I suspect that the plot felt quite personal to him as he had also grown up in an orphanage.

Rewatching it didn't make me want to pick up a blu-ray or dvd and sorry, have to say that for me, Bayona's The Orphanage and del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth are vastly superior (in fact I'd say that PL is easily the best del Toro entry to date).

Apologies to anyone irritated by my Devil's Backbone opinion or manner of watching or collecting films.
