Putting the agenda of the new Doctor to one side, Jodie Whittaker is an award-winning stage actor with a good pedigree on the big and small screen. I thought she was brilliant in
Venus opposite Peter O'Toole, and really impressed in
Good Vibrations, and
Perrier's Bounty (I haven't seen any of the TV shows in which she has appeared), so it isn't as if she hasn't earned the prestigious role on merit.
